Hear the whistle blow,
its time to kick off and go;
ninety minutes of excitement
through pure on-field commitment .


The people roar in appreciation
at seeing the skills and imagination
They open their mouths only to cheer,
some may even be drinking beer .


The ball which rolls on from one foot to another,
and the referees who only bother
about playing the game in the fair way
provide the excitement all day .


The game is filled with passes and crosses,
a shouting coach who instructs and bosses,
They try to change the game and make
substitutions which result in the crucial break .


One more whistle is heard at which
the players turn and quit the pitch,
The spectators may cheer or blame,
